Merry Christmas to all! May the new year bring you endless joy and, hopefully some doodle love!
This past week dear Belka has been ever so lazy, extremely hungry and hot.
We went for an x-ray to count our babies and be sure how many to expect during labour. To our surprise, there were only three little heads and spines…
Even though we are a little bit disappointed in such a small litter, we are quite happy for Belka, because it surely is easier to not only give birth to only 3 little ones but also care for them.
We are extremely excited to see their different colours and coats due to the fact they’re a mix of two breeds that are both born in a variety of coat colours. Bernedoodles can have any coat color combination you could possibly think of. From being born head-to-toe in one colour to a coat that includes a pattern of two or three colours beautifully blended as one.
It’s not only the colour of the coat that can grow through as a combination but also the texture and feel of the coat. It could be thick like the Bernese Mountain Dog, have a tighter-textured coat like a Poodle, or be a mixture of the two. This means that they may shed (similar to a Bernese) or not at all (like a Poodle), as well as being either curly, wavy or straight.
Although it would be great to know, it’s near impossible to predict the kind of coat a Bernedoodle newborn pup will have as they age.
Whatever combination we get we know that we will love them and hope you do too.
